ARC FRP Gratings

FRP gratings, also known as fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) gratings or fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) gratings, are a type of structural grating or walkway surface made from a combination of fiberglass reinforcement and a thermoset polymer resin matrix.

FRP gratings are designed to provide a durable, corrosion-resistant, and high-strength walking surface or platform in various industrial and commercial applications. FRP gratings are typically made by molding a thermoset resin, such as polyester, vinyl ester, or phenolic, reinforced with glass fiber reinforcements (rovings, mat, or woven roving) in a specific pattern or grid structure.

Types:

  • Molded FRP Gratings: Composed of alternating layers of continuous glass fiber and resin, providing bidirectional strength, high impact tolerance, and exceptional chemical resistance. Suitable for cut-outs without additional support and can be made slip-resistant with added grit.
  • Pultruded FRP Gratings: Consists of continuous glass strands encased in resin, offering unidirectional strength, smooth corrosion-resistant surface, and greater span capability due to higher glass content. Ideal for applications requiring larger spans or heavier loading.
